Spending limits

How do I cap what MergeSafe spends?
Every organization starts with a $20 daily and a $300 monthly spending limit, and by default, when a limit is reached, MergeSafe pauses reviews, comments on the pull request, and charges nothing until the limit resets.
The limits
- Daily, weekly and monthly. Defaults: $20 a day and $300 a month, with no weekly limit. Each can be set from $1 to $10,000, or cleared.
- Per repository and per author. Daily caps, off by default. They always pause.
- Periods are in UTC: the day from 00:00, the week from Monday, the month from the 1st.
- Per pull request: at most 6 reviews an hour by default (see When reviews run).
- Sentry issue analyses count too. Their 20¢ charges count toward the daily, weekly and monthly limits (not the per-repository and per-author caps). See Sentry integration.
When a limit is reached
- Pause (the default). The review doesn’t run and isn’t charged. MergeSafe comments once on the pull request, for example “Not reviewed: this organization’s daily review limit is reached”, and says when reviews resume. After a daily limit resets, the pull request is reviewed automatically.
- Sentry issue analyses stop too when a limit is set to pause: the analysis doesn’t run, isn’t charged, and isn’t run later. The error itself is still handled as usual.
- Notify. Reviews keep running and the event is recorded, so you hear about it without anything stopping.
- At 80% of a limit you get one warning per period. Members are emailed when the daily limit is reached, and about the monthly limit at 80%, on pause, and when it is reached.
Where to set them
In the app, under Settings → Spending limits. Only organization admins can change them; members can see them. There is also a switch to suspend all reviews.
Your balance is prepaid too, so you can’t spend more than you have. See How reviews are charged.
